Prior to moving to Holme Marsh in 2015 my role as a Military Officer’s wife meant volunteer work as well as moving home regularly throughout England, Scotland and North Wales. Despite that I held down a demanding Retail Manager’s job, firstly with C&A and then M&S, gaining much experience in dealing with the public and staff as well as Health and Safety issues. I took early retirement in 2004 before spending the last 2 years of my husband’s active service in Cyprus.
On returning to UK in 2006 we lived in Cornwall where I served on the Parish Council for 5 years gaining an in-depth knowledge of planning issues whilst we dealt with some tricky, high profile cases, as well as environmental issues including footpaths and dog fouling. I also worked with the local Police on traffic Community Speedwatch.
We chose to move to Herefordshire for its low-density population, availability of good walks and good clean air. You will see me walking the local footpaths on a daily basis with my dogs and that provides a good opportunity to meet people and listen to local issues.
