Information for Herefordshire Council services on Monday 19th September

Due to the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19 September, some of Herefordshire Council services will be affected.

Household waste

All Herefordshire’s waste and recycling centres will be open as usual on Monday 19 September. Our waste collection crews will start their rounds an hour earlier than usual on Monday so they can pause between 11am-12 noon to pay their respects.

Our highways partner, Balfour Beatty Living Places (BBLP), will remain on call for emergencies only. BBLP will provide a reduced cleansing service on Monday. This means it will sweep and empty bins in Hereford city in the morning before the crew does the same in our market towns. They’ll then return to Hereford for a final cleanse of the day.

Cultural hubs and customer services

Herefordshire’s libraries and museums as well as the archive and records centre will be closed on Monday. The council’s customer services teams will not be available.

Crematoria and registrars

Planned cremation services will go ahead on Monday. Operational staff will work as usual but the offices will be closed. Meanwhile, all appointments with the county’s registrars will be rearranged as the office will be closed on Monday.

Halo Leisure

Halo will re-open its centres as usual on Tuesday morning after keeping the doors locked all day on Monday. All planned sports and leisure events will be cancelled or postponed to a later date.

Healthcare

For urgent health needs over the bank holiday, visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111.

Education and transport

School and college transport will not operate and public transport will be very limited.
