Here for Herefordshire Holidays – eligible families can book today!
The summer holidays are now in full swing and there’s just over two weeks left for eligible families to book onto the Here for Herefordshire Holidays programme! Children and young people (aged 5 to 16) who receive benefits-related free school meals can book up to 20 free activity sessions before 18th August.
Young people have an array of activities to choose, from workouts and gym sessions at 21 Wellbeing to inflatable fun at Flip Out (with plenty in between!). Also on offer is a creative writing class led by a professional writer, martial arts, drama workshops and much more! All sessions include a free healthy meal so there’s no need to bring a packed lunch (sounds like a win!)
Families can find out more about the scheme and book activities on the Talk Community website. Don’t miss out, book today!
We do ask that if you are booked onto a session and can no longer make it, to please contact the provider directly.

Two new films celebrate over 650 people becoming Orange Button wearers
More than 650 people have been trained to wear the Orange Button and support people who are having suicidal thoughts across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Keen to encourage others to join the scheme, Orange Button wearers, Katrina and Euan have shared their stories in two new videos.
The Orange Button is worn by people who have relevant training in suicide prevention. They are there to listen, signpost to local support and help reduce stigma by talking openly about suicide. If you have completed suicide prevention training and want to get involved you can apply for your Orange Button or find out more on the Talk Community website.

New RSV Vaccine Rollout in the UK
Starting this September, the UK will launch a ground-breaking vaccination program to protect against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). The program, the first of its kind globally, will provide vaccinations for both pregnant women and older adults.
RSV is a serious respiratory virus that can lead to severe lung infections, particularly in infants and the elderly. This new vaccination aims to reduce hospitalisations and save lives, and help ease the pressure on the NHS during the winter months.
Expectant mothers from 28 weeks onwards can receive the vaccine to safeguard their babies, and those aged 75 and over will also be eligible for the vaccine.
For more details, please view the UKHSA’s press release, or consult with your GP to check your eligibility and schedule your vaccination.
